johnpoole,
I found the problem. First I have to tell you that we are a third party provider of products that interface through RS-232 port on the rear of the 2250 and Nortels CIU device. At the time of the LCD not updating the time, I felt it was a Nortel problem entirely. I have discovered and can reproduce the problem.
Our PC based Telephony product acts as a frontend to the 2250, i.e. Attendant Console, whereby we communicate to the M1 via the serial port through the 2250s RS-232. We have discovered that by depressing the "Enter" key on the dialpad, i.e. our "Release" key, or "disconnect", on the PC keyboard and hold it down so that the "Release" commands are constantly being transmitted to the 2250/ M1 via the serial port, it apparently overwhelms the 2250, which prevents the LCD from updating itself. I can actually depress the key and see the seconds skip and if I hold it down for a longer period, the time displayed will stop counting. The LCD is now locked up. This has nothing to do with the 2250, but in order to restart the 2250, it has to be reset. I can rectify the problem by changing the amount of key strokes accepted by the PC in the Control panel, Accessability Options, Keyboard. Only allow one key stroke per sec. to be accepted. Thanks for the input.
