Just to interupt if i may, if the time is changed manually on monday and auto time and date is on YES does it change itself again when it was supposed to and then have to be manually corrected again ?? , my brain says yes!
Auto time & date is not the parameter that affects Daylight Savings. If you leave the "Daylight time" to Y, then yes, once you adjust the time, it will re-adjust under old DST rules.
Stupid question, if DST is off and auto time and date is on, what will happen on Sunday when you get a call with a system that has call display. I wonder, will update on Sunday.
In the systems we maintain. What I've seen is Turning Auto Time & Date to Y works only with Caller ID card. If you have PRI, it doesn't correct the time. Is that what everyone else is seeing?
That being said, you're definitely better off turning off DST.
AutoTime&Date You can program the Automatic Time&Date feature to enable the Norstar system to automatically update the time and date after a power failure.
Whenever the clock is out of sync by more than two minutes, as a result of a power failure or a loss of power, the first incoming call updates the clock automatically after two rings.
Note: CLASS trunks are required for this feature to work. Consult your customer service representative to determine if you have CLASS trunks.
Tips - The hour falls back one hour on the last Sunday of October at 2:00 am. It advances one hour on the first Sunday of April at 2:00 am. This function should only be programmed by your installer.
In regions where daylight savings time does not apply, make sure this setting is changed to N (No).
This feature also allows automatic changing between North American daylight savings and standard time. The Automatic Time and Date feature automatically overrides any manually-programmed changes to the time and date.
Note: The year is not included with the time and date information and must be programmed manually if the current year differs from the network time.
Press CHANGE to choose Y or N
Granted, this problem will only be around for 4 weeks total every year. It seems as though Nortel is going the route of Microsoft, and only applying the "fix" in the "latest" (and greatest?) version... Microsoft does not have a fix for XP if you are using SP1 or base, nor does it have a fix for Windows 2000 (or lower). But, in these cases, at least third-party utilities were available...
Actually, it's not surprising that CLID trunks adjust the time, and PRI's don't. Time stamps are embedded in the Caller ID standards, but aren't in PRI.
