Just curious. How much time/money do you add to the cost of avaya IP office quotes for return trips for warranty and software updates. I just started Installing IP offices and thought I had enough markup and labor to cover everything and I do for the initial install but I have had to go back to two systems I installed less than 6 months ago and I have had issues that I had to go back and spend several hours fixing. System one had a voice mail issue and the only the only solution I was told was to recreate the SD card and upgrade to the newest software release. And the 2nd unit just plain died { i tnink power supply)and I spent 5 hours today putting in a temp Nortel cics till I can get the unit replaced. Both times the times the install is so new that it needs to be a warranty and I can't bill my time. I miss the old cics and mics that I just install and forget.
Bottom line is I think I need to add maybe 5 or10 hours of labor to my quotes for the off chance I have to go back for warranty and upgrades but don't want to add to much and miss quotes. Just curious how other businesses approached it.

Can't tell you the markup as I am just doing technical stuff but I can also tell you that you should add $ for an old PC (refurbs are cheap) you leave on site (if you don't already have VmPro on site) and have it remotely accessible as that can help you enormously with most problems as it will keep you from driving.

IP office with less than 10 phones usually are OK but as soon as it goes over that there will be something that customers ask to have taken care of. Remote access is #1 priority.

Both your cases could/should be covered by the maintenance contract fee, except for the driving.
(Always have a chassis and PoE switch in stock, they're not that expensive [smile])

Kind regards
