Hi
I hope someone can help me I have a G3V3 and we want to be able to connect a right fax server to the G3. I need info on how to connect them and route calls to the Right Fax
any help would be great!

Sounds like alot of overhead for faxing.

Would it not be better to install DID trunks or a PRI/T1 directly to the fax server, instead of incurring the extra hardware costs of passing it through the G3V3 PBX switch.

You could order the DID cards for the fax server or a T1 card for the server, save your money on the PBX gear, and hook up copper or PRI lines directly to the fax server.

Just a thought.

I totally agree ( it wasnt my idea) Right now they have a right fax in place but it just uses 4 ports. ( 4 users) the numbers are going directly to the right fax what they want to do now is connect the right fax to the PBX to allow more users for desktop faxing from lotus notes. what I need to know is how do I route the DID's to the right fax. they want to connect to a ds1 card and route all right fax faxing through the ds1 directly to the right fax using a brooktrout card. any suggestions?

Sorry not sure the exact procedure. Will try to look into it for you.

You'll need to setup a UDP pointing a range of extensions/DID to the rightfax T-1 trunk group. If you wanted to point 2400-2499 to the T-1, you need to pick a UDP code (lets say 225) and change the UDP Table.

change udp 2400 Page 1 of 2 SPE B
UNIFORM DIALING PLAN
Ext Codes: 24dd

Ext Code: 2xxx Type: Local

Ext Code: 24xx Type: UDPCode 225

dd Type dd Type dd Type dd Type dd Type

00: 10: 20: 30: 40:
01: 11: 21: 31: 41:
02: 12: 22: 32: 42:
03: 13: 23: 33: 43:
04: 14: 24: 34: 44:
05: 15: 25: 35: 45:
06: 16: 26: 36: 46:
07: 17: 27: 37: 47:
08: 18: 28: 38: 48:
09: 19: 29: 39: 49:

Then change to aar table to point UDP 225 to a route pattern or partition-route-table (partition-route-table 21 in this example).

change aar analysis 225 Page 1 of 2 SPE B
AAR DIGIT ANALYSIS TABLE

6 7 7 p23 aar n
7 7 7 p23 aar n
8 7 7 p23 aar n
9 7 7 p23 aar n

Assign a route pattern in the partition-route-table.

Select the trunk-group of the rightfax (lets say trk grp 5) and delete the 3 digit UDP identifier in the route pattern form.

I've done this before with RightFax and the Brooktrout board. It actually works pretty well. You will go from the CSU on the DS1 card directly into the Brooktrout. You will need to have ISDN PRI turned on on your PBX to deliver the CPN info to the Brooktrout. You will also need to go into system parameters features and turn on trunk to trunk transfers and DID/DIOD access to ARS table for outbound. The info in lopes1211's post looks good for inbound routing. You may actually find it to be cheaper to upgrade your release to R11 (which includes ISDN) than to try and buy the RTU for R3. With R3, you may also run into trouble with not enough Processor Interface channels. I think you can configure the RightFax, Brooktrout, and PBX with a tie trunk, but I'm not sure how you would configure signaling in that set-up.

Great info guys,especially lopes
this is just the bit I still had to fix(I only used it for broadcasting outbound till now)
The great thing about routing it through your Definity is the flexible routing
To add my bit on the connection end for brooktrout E1/Rightfax:
Just put a DS/1 board in the switch(TN2464 or 464F), and configure it as TIE:
Group Number: 77
Group Type:isdn
Group Name: FAX COR: 1 TN:1 TAC: 88
Direction: two-way
Carrier Medium: PRI/BRI
Service Type: tie

Use a Telco RJ45 cross cable
47 to 5 blue
22 to 4 blue/white
48 to 2 orange
23 to 1 orange/white

and there you go,

Hope this helps,

Rob
