TIe between Aspect and Nortel

Hi, we recently install a Aspect call center system and connected with a Nortel Opt 61C with Tie lines using DS1 cards. Both systems communicate well but seems that we have a lot of lock out and busy lines, include is a copy of the route we created; any ideas welcome.

I wrote the following for my fellow PMs a few years ago. Both systems have changed a little, but look at the differences in the configs. You can't change the Aspect but a minor change in the Nortel might work.

Nortel PBX TIE Line Configuration for Aspect

The E&M TIE line configuration for Nortel has a lot of options, while the Aspect DTIC set up is based upon a traditional industry standard and no real adjustable options. The PBX set up with Aspect is sometimes a trial and error process that is a waste of resources.

The following information is a print out of one variation of the Nortel set up for a 4-Wire E&M TIE line emulation on a digital T-1 card that will work with an Aspect ACD. There are other important system parameters and configurations that impact call routing and completion, but this will provide the foundation for connectivity.

The two sections are the RDB (route – similar to Aspect trunk group) and the TN (individual trunk). The Nortel T-1 card is very flexible, feature-rich and every trunk can be assigned with different signaling parameters, trunk group and function. For example, half of the channels on a span can be set as ground start trunk emulation and the other half as E&M or DID trunk emulation.

There are other system parameters that must also be set to send and receive digits, require a route access code (like “dial 9”), etc. These tasks are used on a more common basis by the PBX technician and hopefully are less of a problem and easier to resolve during set up and testing with Aspect.

OTHER CONFIGURATON ITEMS TO WATCH:

The Nortel should be configured with Answer Supervision on the trunks.

The Nortel should be configured to allow Disconnect Supervision from Either End of the call on the trunks. If this is set to one end or the other, you can get trunks hung in a busy state. They will not release without intervention and eventually all trunks will be busy.




 
We've tried to link the voicemail systems using AMIS-A. You had to type so many access codes to get to the voicemails it really didn't make sense. Who wants to have to type a long digit string to forward voicemails?

On a side note, we are having a problem with sending calls between our Nortel PBX and our Aspect ACD. Just about every time we have a call come into the Nortel PBX that does not have caller ID information, the call cannot be accepted by the Aspect ACD. Any thoughts?
