Hello,

Im am wondering if anyone here knows of a solution to a little problem im having.
Im wanting to print tickets for a event, i have a ticket printer and special tickets to print on, but no software that will automatically print tickets with increasing ticket numbers.
IS there a way to set either excel or Publisher up to do this? The is a software company that has a piece of software called "codesoft" which does this but it costs a small fortune. :) any advice any any add ons/macros etc etc would be great..

hi,

Sure, if you know how to use either of these two tools.

But I don't believe that it will be a trivial matter, depending on how much you expect to have to do in Excel.

Please explain in great detail, what you expect to have to do in Excel like, create tickets on a sheet, or feed in a sheet of tickets and number each one or WHAT?

Thanks for the quick reply skipvought.

ill try and describe best i can.
we have a ticketing printer, it prints out on to a reel of "tickets" we'd like each ticket to have its own number. we had the codesoft labeling software and that worked great till the HDD crashed and we lost it. the codesfot people wont give us another copy and we cant afford to buy a new product key.
So was hoping that In either excel or publisher it would be possiable to load up a template of the ticket ( so sizes match up with actual ticket)and so that its easy to change the name of the event/time etc, and the numbers on the tickets would go up automatically when printed. im sorry if im leaving out info or just not making sense, im not very tech savy.

again, thanks for checking out the thread.

load up a template of the ticket
Do you have that?

Somehow that template needs to be IN A SHEET, so that this kind of process might occur in a loop
[tt]
1. assign the next number
2. print number on the the ticket
[/tt]
so the cell that will contain the number must align with the place on the ticket/template where the number should go.

Why excel?

Think word.

One ticket equals one page. Co-opt page numbers, or mailmerge.

Why didn't I think of Word?!
