Threading issues on a Linux Server

I'm hoping one of you java gurus can help me. I also posted a similar request in the Linux Server board. Basically I am trying to run a chat program on a Linux Server and am having threading problems. I have the Linux jvm from the sun site installed but was hoping you someone might have a suggestion (either through a website etc.) .

What kind of threading problems - can linux not fork another process? Or are you having problems with resource management with the threads?

It's really a problem with resource management it works fine on an NT box but doesn't seem to work well at all on a Red Hat Linux box.
