Hi,

Does anyone know of a website with generic questionaires and surveys(intended for the business) for flushing out and defining KPI's?

Thanks

Cognos used to have something. I think it will be more business related than IS related. Maybe the 2nd Kimball book where he talks about the different data designs for each business type.

Each business have different KPIs, and eventually you
need to target your questions according to that. What you
might need is user requirements questionaire? Going
through the existing reports that business users use will
give u a basic idea of what they are expecting and will
eventually generate more KPIs.

Check if the company has something like a dashboard used
in any other departments, that might help you too.

last, try searching in google, where you find some KPIs
relevant to each industry but not a complete set of
questions.

Senior management in the business should define the KPIs for their parts of the business. IT implement the way to measure those KPIs. The business senior mgmt know the business and should know what it is they want to measure in order to run that business better. Here is a KPI illustration: 'Total time spent on service requests by a technician, reported monthly, for Europe, by total service vists where total time includes job time + travel time'. The more detailed it is with the least ambiguity, the easier it is to define in the system.
