Thousands and thousands of old event email alarms being sent

All of a sudden in the last week we've been getting thousands and thousands of old event alarms being sent. IPO 9.1

We change the IP address we've even rebooted and shut down but we keep getting them from the old IP address so we know they're not coming from the new IP address.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can disable the SMTP server in System-->SMTP.
Or check in System-->System Events.
