==> Now how did we get into this discussion??????

We only need to look at SantaMufasa's post of 5 Sep 07 12:29 to see the gross misuse of language, "... we learned that we should not use alcohol, coffee, tea, or Tabasco." Semantically speaking of course, that sentence can never be more than half true, because even on the worst of days, in a desperate pinch, we could do without the coffee or tea.

Good Luck

Oh, yeah, that Tobasco Soy Sauce is good tucker.

But to put the hotness of various pepper sauces into perspective...There is an Indian (dot, not feather) restaurant near my house, and they serve many of their dishes in three levels of spice, named unoriginally enough, "mild", "medium" and "hot". Their menu describes the spice levels as,
"Mild" is American hot.
"Medium" is Cajun hot.
"Hot" is Indian hot.

Forgive my foolishness... but perhaps the child was told do not use "alcohol, coffee, tea, or tobacco" ¿?
... and thought (s)he heard Tobasco.

You got the point MCuthill, I was just trying to make fun of the incorrect spelling of Tabasco (as this is MAI and what comes around goes around). However, despite my effort that spicy snuff Tobasco keeps rearing it's head.

Reminds me of the Simpson's Tomaccos.

I don't know if you would call that addictive product a food group but the results of using it parallel the results of using tobacco products.
huh? How does Tobasco use (and results) parallel tobacco use (and results)?

I often thought Frank's had more flavor and less "heat" than Tobasco...

That's what I wanted to ask. Even though I don't really use Tabasco myself (and don't use tobacco at all).

As for tea, as far as I know, it is one of the healthiest things around. Just ask the Chinese. And the Russian. And many other nationalities. And some doctors agree, too.

And you will have to work really hard to prove to me that moderate amounts of coffee and alcohol at an appropriate time of day and week is bad for you. Like a glass of wine with a slow, relaxing weekend dinner (red wine is said to be especially beneficial, but I also like blush and white), or a cup of coffee with or without milk at the beginning of your work day.

I don't live on coffee, but I need my one big cup at my desk as a starter of my work day. Of course, getting enough sleep might be a good substitute, but for a full-time working, one-hour-each-way commuting mother, it's not really an option.

And for those wanting to "improve my health" I keep a newspaper clipping about health benefits (yes!) of coffee at my desk, along with another one, about not-so-healthy effects of soy.

Sorry Guys,
I thought you may have been on that other track... but in the end of the workday mindframe that was plaguing my office, I just wasn't sure. oops.

I love Tapatio. Especially their slogan.

Yep good ole Texas Pete made right here in NC is great. But I'm kind of like the taste of Franks Red Hot.

I figure once those other hot sauce companies have been in business for more than 125 years, I'll give their products a taste.

My father is a petroleum engineer and when I was a kid (mid-70s, I was ~9), we lived in Perth, Western Australia for two years, which gave us an opportunity for travel around Asia and Oceania. Whenever I got homesick, it was something of a comfort to know that something familiar, Tabasco, was available. I've asked for "Tabasco" by name, regardless of native language, and had it delivered to my table in Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Fiji and Jakarta.

Welcome to the group, Michael52x.

Oh, and give all your food a liberal dousing of Dave's Gourmet Insanity Sauce*.

*Lest someone actually try that and then sue me for the resulting hospital bill, do not give your food a "liberal dousing" of that sauce.
