This may be a simple problem for XP/IIS 5.1 people

My XP/IIS 5.1 server returns the default web page on both:

1)

http://127.0.0.1

2)

http://dennis

but just hangs on:

3)

http://192.168.0.1

My question is why does it not respond to (3)?

192.168.0.1 is pressumable the Ip of the same machine you are trying 127.0.0.1 and localhost from??

Are you running a firewall??

192.168.0.1 is the address for your router home page.

I am not running any firewall, however my internet
provider is a dial up account with a proxy server

Basically, my LAN has 2 computers, mine and a flatmate.

My flatmate can access the web page using
1)

http://dennis/webpage.html

but not
2)

http://192.168.0.1/webpage.html

192.168.0.1 is the LAN IP assigned to my computer
'dennis' is the LAN name assigned to my computer

Presumably 'dennis' is the domain name for 192.168.0.1
My LAN network card says its IP is 192.168.0.1

BTW, I am self-taught in networks and I have only
some idea of what is going on

Both machines have XP running
