what does @@ mean?

i see a variable for example which is called @@transtate but see no declarations of it. Where is it coming from?

this means it's a global variable... used by sybase...

ex.

select @@servername

select @@version

so @@ is an inherit variable, not a user defined one, correct? thanks for all input
