Hi,

I just came across this site Click "the space" link. Does anyone know if this effect actionscript? I would love to know how to create this effect. Any ideas?

Cheers,
Jen

im guessing it could be some kind of onMouseOver function or buttons that when you rollover them, gotoAndPlay differernt frames.

Computing help and info:

it is built using a mouseOver and an _alpha setting. you would just need to get the coordinates that you want the images to start and end at. with a little luck and some practice, you would figure out the exact timing...

look into scripts for "scripted movie clip motion", you could probably build one function or prototype to handle all of the movement for the images, but it would take a little time

good luck

"If you build it....it won't work the first time.....or the second ;)

Thanks for the help. I'm pulling my hair out over here trying to figure this out!

does anyone know where I could download a file that demos this type of effect ?

Here's something important to consider:

At first glance, this effect looks like it was simply created on the stage with a bunch of tweens and alpha changes, easing, etc.

The reason that this effect is so graceful is because when you look closely, you'll notice that when you roll over the images at random, Flash knows to push all the other images to the side.

Creating this effect would be easy if I knew the exact sequence visitors would use to roll over the images every time. The problem is that people will roll over the images randomly. The reason this effect is so nice is because no matter which image you roll over, Flash knows where you are and what to do. This keeps the Flash movie from appearing "Clunky".

thanks oldnewbie, this is trickier than I expected...

No! Sorry haven't had a chance to look at it again...
No nice outside here, after yesterday's pooring rain...
Guess I won't be able to look at it today either!

guys, do you think this effect can be related to different shapes? I mean the sliding effect is pretty good, but do you think it could be applied to pictures inside a circle or a triangle, or even a more complex shape, which is what I eventually want to be after.
