Hi,
Could anyone give me a recommendation of which language is best for cooperating with sql server 2000?
"Best" means: does more then others, being used by more then others.
Thanks a lot!

You have to pick the language that you know best
If I told you it is Eifel.NET would you pick it?

anything that supports ADO.NET or a Type 4 Java driver is good IMHO

duchovnick,
You should pick the tool that bast suit your needs. All depends what you want to do. Personally I never change Visual FoxPro when we speak about desktop applications. Very powerful and fast, but when you need to build INET applications there are lot of great tools to choose. ASP.NET, JAVA, PYTHON (I can't listed all here). Not that I know all these languages. :)

Hi,
And thanks.
I was thinking of a more bannal language such as vb vs access. ASP.net seems to suit best my needs.
Borislav, i've been working with "Clipper" many years and "Foxpro " as i know resembles it very much But i think ASP is more required today.

But i think ASP is more required today

Why? It's not required unless your environment dictates it or it is best for the situation. Why would you pick a language based on the number of people "using" it. No wonder VB6 and prior versions invaded our field so rapidly and created havick and bad code for all of us to rewrite.

Denis answered the best although you can't even say ADO.NET sense you haven't given enough information on what and how the final product will be used and or run. How about java and jdbc. Or maybe at this point you're better off with HTML and staying away from the complexity of integrating data into the app.

Hey, scratch all that. Google'ing "most commonly used langauge" returns the first link being C/C++. Go at it man!

maybe your question would be better asked in forum656 if trends will push you into a technology more than your environment

don't mind my early morning spelling impairments (havick/havoc). I never said I was smart

I think you're smart, onpnt. And Eifel.net rocks!

Duchovnick - are you talking language for a desktop application or web based? And do you want to keep things microsoft or not? And what languages do you have experience with (because this will help to see what is easier for you to get up to speed on)? You have much to consider here.

Good Luck,

Alex
