The Tabs Palette in InDesign is blank... 1

It no longer displays the ruler and magnet icon, etc. The fly-out menu to the right is sometimes totally grayed out and sometimes I'm able to select Clear All.

A coworker told me this is a setting somewhere within InDesign, but I've checked and rechecked and can't seem to find it (nor could she). Must I have the program reinstalled?

Have you tried resetting the preferences? Hold down the Ctrl, Alt and Shift keys while Indesign loads, Indesign will ask you if you wish to reset the preferences file, select yes and see if the problem is resolved. If it is a setting in the preferences file re-installing won't solve the problem unless you do a complete uninstall.

Glad it worked, it's always the first thing I try when strange things occur, it works with both Indesign and Photoshop.

I am SO grateful to have found your thread! I thought I was going nuts. Kliot, it did, indeed work like a charm. I had a nervous moment when it asked me to delete preferences, but all seems in order now.
