how do i modify an existing extended access-list. i haven't had to do so for a long time and everytime i try i get either 'missing' or 'not enough' 'command arguments'. i changed service provider over the weekend and need to now.

i swear i've googled the heck out of it and i just can't find it...

never mind. i had this confused with modifying an extended access-list on an IOS router.

the same trouble again right now!

i'm googling like crazy...

Hello
Please post your config and state what you want to do?
Regards

it was the same situation as last time. about every six months or so i wind up having to make an access-list on a router or a pix.

i always forget and seem to think on the pix i have to get into a mode for the named access-list i want to add to like i have to with extended acl's on the routers. something like:

pix(config-ext-nacl)

whereas on the pix i just have to enter config mode.

pix(config)

i always forget... after the initial panic and head scratching it comes back to me. like i said this is something i do 2 or 3 times a year. today i was asked to add ftp access for one workstation an hour before the weekend starts and i was trying to use the router commands again! once the panic subsided i remembered.

the travails as a part-time cisco hack and ccna wannabe....

thanks for the quick response though!!!

Here is an option:

Setup and use the gui interface. I know you can't do everything from there, but when I am away. That is a pretty easy way for others to get stuff done.

Just an idea ...
