the second HDD doesn't work

Hello all
I have origional 40GB HDD, i want to add another 60GB HDD. but the BIOS doesn't read the new HDD after i add it. How can i let the second HDD work?
PLease help.[afro2]

Check your jumper settings on the hd's. If they are both cable select, try forcing the master/slave settings.
Hope this is a start!
 
Check on the motherboard manufacturer's website that your board can support a drive that large.

Will the 60Gb drive work without the 40Gb drive attached? Can you try the 60Gb drive in another machine?
 
Thank to all. It does work now!! The BIOS read the 100GB HDD. but the new problem is couldn't start the Window ME even i insert the WinME setup disk.

Would you give further helps?

If you are trying to install ME on the new drive, it needs to be partitioned and formatted before you can put on an operating system.
