Heya

If someone acesses a web page that requires flash, and they don't have the plgin, what do they see?

I can't test this out without downgrading my computer.
Do they get a special message telling them to get flash?

They should! But that's probably why more and more sites offer a Flash version and an ordinary html navigation choice. By asking the user if they see a simple Flash intro animation, you can, if they don't, then redirect them to a html version if they decide not to download the Flash player.

In my experience it is better to put your own detection page before the site. But I do believe that if you don't put anything before it, it will say that the user doesn't have it and ask them if they want to download it. There is a good detection tutorial and source code at
