In using MS Outlook phone dialer is there a way to just use the handset without using the microphone? I don't want every call I make to be on speakerphone.
Whenever I make a call via my contacts it automatically dials up through the speakers. I want to converse quietly but prefer using the contact dialup.
Thanks for any help !!

Have you tried changing your default devices for playback and recording inside your OS?

Thank you for your prompt reply. Please speak in terms for Dummies. What is OS? Where can I find this? I need to impress the boss as I haven't been here very long.

My first question is - When you use Outlook to dial, is it dialing over a plain phone line hooked to the back of your PC (or is it actually controlling your multi-line/digital phone?)

If it is just dialing over the plain line in the back of the PC, you have a "Voice Modem" and you need headset like this:
If you have something similar already, I suspect it is not connected to the sound card right, or it is not selected as the playback device in Windows "Start Button > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices"

Actually, yes I was trying it just attached to back of pc and single phone. Would eventually like it company wide but it's more important right now for the boss to have this feature. I don't think he'll want to use a headset so is there another way? Can I fix this as the multi line for anyone's option to use (without headset use)?
Sorry I didn't check back earlier...had other issues.
Thanks again !
