Someone in their infinite wisdom changed the password on our Definity G3 ver11 switch... I can get in from the remote software so they must have changed it there also..

Is there a default password from the console or some other way to change a password without knowing the password you logged in as?

This is a minor emergency!!!

If you saying that you can't log in at all then call Avaya and pay money and they will reset the login for you.

I can get in with the remote software, it is doing an autologin and they must have put the new password in there but it was not passed on to me (the Phone guy) and now no one knows what it is..

unfortunately the only way you're going to resolve that is to pay the $125 (last time I checked) to Avaya to have them reset the password for you.

After being auto-logged in, use the command "cha password LOGIN_ID" where LOGON_ID is the logon ID that you need to change the password for. You do not need to know the previous password on the switch to change it.

Also, use the command "list hist object pass" to find out who changed the password earlier.

A previous Avaya Tech walked me through using default passwords specific to my company and switch and I now have console access again...
I now have my password and a backup login id and password set...
