anyone have any ideas on this???

Anyone make heads or tails of this error? There is no real error and nothing
to go off of. I have tried all the different types of hardware compression
as well as none. I have tried all the backup options under the job itself. I
have tried updating drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling the software.
THis is a new AIT drive with a brand new adaptec2960 dedicated card. THe
drive is on scsi id 0 and i have disabled disconnect in the bios. IT doesnt
matter what i do, i still get this error....The parameter is incorrect. The
job will start, preprocess, run for a few seconds, and then go into a on
hold (failed) state.

I have been working on this for 3 days and we havent had a backup in
forever. I just spent over 1500 on hardware for the backup and it still wont
work.

Any ideas?

Are the SCSI drivers for this device up to date? Maybe try getting one from Veritas.

- Zoe, that's ZOH-EEE, get it right please

I am having the same problem.

My drive is a Sony AITi90V-A (IDE not SCSI).

If can execute a backup in W2K Backup prog, but anything done in Veritas Backup Exec 8.6 fails.

Did you end up solving this?

Thanks.

You will probably need to get up-to-date drivers from the Veritas website. They generally work better for using Backup Exec to back up files than the drivers that comes with the hardware.

Put Block Size to 64K

That's it

incompass,

do not use the id 0, 1 or 6 for a Tape-Device. 0+1 are for bootable system like harddisks. 6 is the default id for the adaptec scsi controller. I would suggest you to use the id 2. You should also update the SCSI-Controller Driver in Windows... When you check your Event-Log Files. Do you get some errors with the ID 7,9 or 11?
