These have always been fun... here's how it works.

I will start a story... and the next person can write another paragraph, continuing the story. The only rule is this; don't drastically change the premise of the story started. Nothing worse than "The dragon hunter quietly stalked his prey..." and someone else continuing with "Then the stormtroopers arrived...." Bleck. If you wish to start a different story, start it in a new thread.

*** Begin story ***

Matt Sloan thought he had heard and seen it all, until that fateful day when the blonde bombshell burst into his office. "You've got to help me," she said "You're my last hope. My father, the lead scientist for Robotics Design, Inc. has gone missing!"

The tears welled up in her eyes, and I knew just from the tone in her voice that this wouldn't be your "regular" case.....

**** continue... :)

SHe collapsed into a chair and I broght her a glass of water. "Start at the beginning Ms.???" "Sparks, Jenny Sparks. I think there's something wrong with the project my father has been working on for the government"......

"He always seemed so excited about his work", she explained. "But in the last few months, he's looked increasingly concerned and at times, almost scared".

Jenny sipped at the glass of water and started rustling around in her large handbag, looking for something...

She produced a small metallic object the size and shape of a Zippo(tm) lighter and put it on the table.
"Apparently this was going to be very important... Something about revolutionizing the way people think about AI."

"That time in Seattle... was a nightmare. I came out of it dead broke, without a house, without anything except a girlfriend and a knowledge of UNIX."
"Well, that's something," Avi says. "Normally those two are mutually exclusive."

Matt looked intrigued by the small metal object, as the light glistened off of it. "So when's the last time you saw your father?" he asked. "About two weeks ago," she replied... "He's always been a bit of a recluse, and it's not uncommon for him to disappear for a little while, lost in his work. But when he didn't call me for my birthday last week, I started to worry. I decided to seek help when I went by his place and it looked like it had been ransacked! Luckily, they looked right over his life's work, sitting next to a cigar on the end table."

"Ahh, the old 'purloined letter' bit" chuckled Matt. "Leave it in the open, and people will look right over it. So, what's the little gizmo do?"

I have no idea!" she said. "But as I was leaving the house, a black Ford sedan pulled into the driveway. A man dressed all in black got out and...

... circled the house trying to find a way in, but I ran out the back as soon as I saw him. Daddy told me to never trust anyone who drives a black Ford sedan. I had nowhere else to go, so I came here. Can you help me?"

[Cheers]

Sure", he said. "But..

But I don't do charity work." She crossed her legs nervously and explained that her bank account had vanished along with her father. An awkward silence filled the room as he contemplated her situation, desperate she looked him straight in the eyes and said “…

[thumbsup2] Wow, I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time.
I think I've forgotten this before.

...I will even clean windows," she continued, with a hint of seduction in her words.

"Very well" he said, "the windows it is".

"Now, where can I find details of your fathers work, maybe I can..."

With those words she handed Matt the small metal object.

"This is all that I have of Dad's work. He always carried kept his notes with him. First in a small notebook, then tape recorders. He finally began carrying USB drives and was taking an interest in the art drives."

"Art drives?" asked Matt

You know, the kind that are made from the encased brain material of the Aardvark, in Rubberized Titanium," she explained.

Matt pondered ... then said, "You mentioned earlier that this had something to do with AI. Is that some sort of Aardvark or Art Institution?"

Jenny replied, "I dunno, I'm just a dumb blonde who cleans windows ... do I look like some kinda Artificial Intelligence machine or something?"

Matt, somewhat taken aback, said ...

[Cheers]

Hey, Darlin', don't get steamed...As far as I can tell, there ain't nothin' 'Artificial' or 'Intelligent' about you. I'm just trying to catch a break on where we go from here to find yer Pop.

"Let's review: Yer bank account's empty...Pop disappears for days at a time...He's been scared about his government work on robotics...Some 'Ninja' in a black Ford's been snooping around yer place...Pop's notes were left in plain view but everything else is turned upside-down. Are any of his USB drives or other notes still around? When he disappears, where does Pop sneak off to? How far could he get with the bucks from yer bank account? Who stands to gain if Pop's outta the picture?"

Here eyes widened. "Oh no!" she whispered. She jumped up and rushed from my office, leaving only her ...

...scent of cheap perfume behind.

"Wait!", Matt shouted.

Matt grabbed his jacket and ran after her onto the sidewalk. He saw her duck into a side street and he increased his pace, gaining on her with every stride.

Finally, he got within reach, pulled on her shoulder and brought her to a stop. "Hey!" he shoudted, "what about my windows?".

She looked at him menacingly and reached into her jacket pocket, producing a....
