Do you have access to the command line in Linux?
Can you type ss or displog -l act ?
If not, can you go to the graphic user interface to the system status or alarm logs?

What has changed on the MSS recently? Have there been any software or hardware changes to the MM?
if it is a 8730 they do it all the time. How long did you wait? i have seen some take 25 minutes before they start to shutdown.
Or in some cases i will do the 3 finger salute to bring it down.
What ever you do don't power it off.
