The handle is invalid error

Hello

Is this in the right section?

I have a windows 2000 pc. Everytime I try dialing up (using an internal modem or card modem) I get an error:

"The handle is invalid".

Any ideas? I'm stuck.

I've reinstalled the modem/s several times.
Searched the net as best as I can, no answers.

*sigh*

Any ideas?
