The function is unfamiliar with the Certificate Authority

Hello,
I support a Visual Basic Application. There is a function within the software that allows users to connect to our server and send us information online.

We have just released a new version of the software that updated our previous versions. This "Email" function was not changed, but since our release we have a few users who now cannot email to us due to this error message:

The function is unfamiliar with the Certificate Authority that generated the server's certificate

This is a Wininet error message, but searching for information on HOW TO FIX IT is impossible. There are a multitude of websites out there that tell you what it means, but no suggestions on what you might need to try to fix it.

Does anyone have any ideas at all?

The software has been re-installed, the certificate has also been imported from our secure website and this makes no difference to the problem at all.

I'm sorry if this information is a bit vague but I'm really baffled by this problem! ANy help anyone can give me would be very much appreciated!

By the way, the specific user I am dealing with at the moment is using Windows ME so i can't get any Event logs or Viewers to have a look at.
There is also nothing wrong with our certificate!
