I am having problem with some files which I have on external portable hard disk and as I try to copy them on my computer it starts copying but in few seconds the error shows up MAKE SURE THE DISK IS NOT FULL OR WRITE PROTECTED AND THAT THE FILE IS NOT CURRENTLY IN USE. I dont want to loose these files so if any one can help me about this, help will be appreciated with thanks.

All I can think of , is to try on another comp & see if it gives the same result .

I've had several similar situations with blank floppies. Even after scandisk..still no-go.

My only solution was to shutdown and restart W98 (this helped for a while and eventually even that didn't help.)

I ended up creating a user profile folder with all rights on local machine instead of using our network's settings. Then poof! that problem never resurfaced (it's been about 10 months now since the very last incident.)

So, try rebooting (if it's feasible).
