This is the error message that I am receiving when I try to stop my usb camera properly. It worked perfectly for a few months then I got a sony 64mb USB drive (the little keychain type). That worked a couple of times then I started to get the error message saying that It could not stop the usb drive. Ever since then I haven't been able to properly disconnect my camera.

I was thinking that the usb driver became corrupted. Any ideas where I can get and re-install the usb drivers?

OS:
Windows XP pro SP1

The usb driver is a miniport driver that allows the OS to load driver files that are common to usb compliant devices so that you do not have to have a large istall for the device. Your usb driver is going to be dependant on the type of mainboard that you are using, as it is directly tied to the host controller on the board. For example, if you are running a board with a VIA KT266a chipset, you would need to get the the latest VIA drivers..ect.ect. If you are not using a newer version of the usb driver other than the one that came with XP go to the manufacturer of your mainboard and see what chipset is on the board and download accordingly. If don't know who made your mainboard..ie, it's a prefab from HP,Compaq, yada, you can open device manager, and expand "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" and next to host controller from the bottom it will tell you the manufacturer of the chipset and you can get then newest one's from them directly. Most of the updates for USB controllers are a patch that can be ran and it will update the controller and sometimes the IDE controller and AGP host controller also, but that depends on the manufacturer.

If you need help finding the correct USB drivers post the make/model of your mainboard and I can point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the reply. I never thought to check the mobo manufacturer.
