I'm building a network for a hospital using 2 Windows 2000 Server. The 1st server acts as DC, Activer Directory server, database server, DNS and mail server. I want to make the other as a backup for the 1st server.
Using Active Directory Wizard, I tried to make the 2nd server as a backup domain controler. So I choose "Another domain controller is already in the network". I typed in the domain name (somehospital.net) but the wizard come out with something like "The domain controller could not be contacted". Any idea why this is happening?
p.s.: The network won't be connected to the internet.

Make sure the second DC's DNS is set to use the first DC/DNS. Darrell Mozingo

Yes Darrell, I already set that option. All of the basic options about networking under Windows 2000 is already set, but I still get the same message. I even get the same message for running "net view /domain:somehospital.net" under command prompt from the 2nd DC.
Any other explanation?

I too had same problem, but there was a DNS issue, once it is Ok, things are fine.
make sure you are able resolve domain name throgh nslookup from both sides
