I get that message when I try to log in to the samba server in a share called homes which looks like this:
Code:
[homes]
	comment = Home Directories
	path = /export/home/%u
	read only = No
	create mask = 0750
	hosts allow = pc497
What am I doing wrong?

Did I use the %u the right way?

The problem is on the windows client side.

1: type "net use" and see if there is already a connection to the samba server using a different user.

Windows will not let you connect to the same server as 2 different users.

you will have to delete a mapping if it already eixsts and you don't want it to. Including a IPC$.

Note that this is not always because the client actually has a connection. Sometimes it's because the client _thinks_ it has a connection but the net use will display that no real connection exists. This is a bug in Windows that happens from time to time. The workaround is to log off your client, then log back on
