Hi,

Every time I start my win XP Pro (SP1), there is no speaker icon in the bottom right of the screen. It's not a huge issue by any means but one that annoys me a little! I can get it back again by going to the control panel and checking the box "Place volume icon on task bar" (which incidentally seems to be unchecking itself at shutdown). Any ideas how to keep it there so it always appears at startup?

Many thanks,

Jim

Thanks anyway - it was very nice of you to take the trouble to respond. Yes, this has happened before - it came back for a period but has decided on another lengthy vacation.

Best wishes )

Cool! I have tried that and I'll see if it works next time I start up. The irony is that I have used this facility before for keeping other program icons constantly visible so I don't know why I didn't think of it for the sound! Thanks again!)

Many thanks for that. I have downloaded and run the script
