Hi
I've got a Windows 2003 server and I have been backing up to an external HDD. I tried to restore a folder today and I get the following error...."the backup file contains unrecognized data and cannot be used".
I have restored from the drive before and the backups are created in NT Backup (.bkf) and I am trying to restore them in NT Backup? I can download a trial version of a program that can open the backup file and browse/open the files, but it's very expensive. Why can't I read my own backup files created in the same program?
Can anyone shed any light on the matter?
Thanks

This may be the case but how can 3rd party software read the files and not the native NT backup? If the backup file is corrupt it would not read in the 3rd party software.
