On a bus this morning i saw an advert against domestic violence. the strapline was:

'That'll teach her to answer back'

Now i'm curious, surely that (being some form of DV) will teach her NOT to answer back?

Am i gramatically incorrect or are they?

Frankly, a poster with that message, on display in the Men's Room, is one of the best places for it to be, with, or without, the tear-offs.

Indeed, most men cannot ignore it there. I doubt it will be of benefit to abusers, but at least in a quiet place those abused will get some solace, and understanding that they are not alone.

Santa - confronting men with a message along the lines of "Real men don't hit women" or "love shouldn't hurt" is a fine idea. But this was clearly geared towards victims of domestic abuse.

Note: There was no poster in the hallway. There was no poster in the women's room. (I asked.) Most likely, someone moved it into the men's room as a 'joke'.

I'm assuming you know this, but for those who don't, the name of the "Theme from M*A*S*H" is "Suicide it Painless".

I agree entirely, however, it is a little less well pulicised, that men can suffer from domestic violence, just as women can.

I friend of mine, who is not by any means the abusive kind, got attacked by his ex-wife on more than one occasion.

One particular occasion springs to mind. She hit him, bit him and at 5'0" compared with his 6'4", threw him over his car, and then took a wine bottle to him. This is not to mention the mind games she used to play with him.

Therefore, I believe that this is a good thing, in that it is not often considered that men may also be victims, rather than trying to make them feel guilty about being the abuser.

I've always thought that the sort of loving you're most likely to find in the men's room hurts like buggery!

I phoned the local ramblers club today, and this bloke just went on and on.

I think we're getting bit off topic for the thread and forum.

BTW - we had a poster appear in one of the stalls in the men's room - right over a toilet - that read, "Love shouldn't hurt". It had little tear-off sheets with the phone number to a support line for abused.... spouses of both genders, I suppose.

You know, when I first started reading this, and got to the "Love shouldn't hurt", and thought of a guy standing there at a urinal, I thought to myself "Yeah, and it shouldn't burn when I pee, either" [rofl]

...And on that refined note, I hope I speak in behalf of LizSara (original poster), and certainly others of us when I suggest we bid a fond àdieu to this thread. [smile]
