thanks john but you mentioned a level of verification and im wondering if a certification from another source other then nortel is considered on the same level throughout the industry?
do they all hold to the same standards?

I personally haven't heard of certifications from anyone other than Nortel. Some military classes (I took the Air Force telephone maintenance course and they accepted that for pre-req for translations in sl-100) are accepted by Nortel, but I'm not sure of anything else.

nope.. unless your nortel certified, your trained.. but you don't have to take the training, you can just take the nortel cert test

thanks guys i like your idea john p. about doing my own study and taking the test on-line when ready........as a independant contractor the costs associated with purchasing the courses on CBT is something im unable to come up with at this time! at this point i am now scanning the web for a company or individual willing to sell current new or used pbx option 11c manuals and a vendor of inexpensive test preperation materials.
any advice or direction from here?

You actually need to go to a Prometric center and take a test. It costs $149.00 to take.

For NNCSS - Nortel Networks Certified Support Specialist you have to take the following:

920-803 - VoiP Technologies. If you have taken the 801 test, that has been grandfathered in.

920-324 - Database Administrator
920-325 - Installation and Maint Software
920-140 - Installation and Maint Hardware
920-160 - Design Specialist

You have to take the tests in combination.

803+324 to get the cert
803+325+140 to get the cert
803+160 to get the cert

Of course you only have to take the 803 once, but it's a killer test. They used to require it for everything, but now for Call Pilot you don't need it, only for everything else.

Hope this helps.

John

803-it is a killer test!! But once you pass, an excellent building block. You need it for almost everything else.
