I'm having an issue with TFTP (I think).

Last week I upgraded my client's system from R4 to R9. Their previous IP office was a V1. I upgraded the V1 to R9, exported the config, and imported it to a new V2 system. Everything works great as far as the system itself goes. We are having issues with call reporting.

The client is using Call Sweet from Datel. According to Datel support, they are not receiving TFTP requests from the IP Office. From what I can tell, TFTP is enabled on the system. Does anyone know of a place where TFTP can be enabled/disabled? I've checked all of the places that I know of, but call reporting still isn't working.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Not quite sure. Datel claims that their system communicates with the system via TFTP, SMDR would make sense though.

TFTP is used by the system to send files to handsets/desktop clients, call logging/call centre is usually SMDR, though I have never used Datel, I wouldn't imagine it uses TFTP. For SMDR just go to System > SMDR ...there isn't much to get wrong in there :)

Yup that's what I thought. TFTP must be working because all of the handsets upgraded successfully after I upgraded the system. Yup SMDR is pretty easy to setup. The thing is, I imported their config to the new system so I would have thought that it would have copied the SMDR settings.

I just opened their old config that I saved prior to upgrading. This config was working successfully with the Datel software and SMDR isn't enabled. So, as far as you know, there's nowhere to enable/disable TFTP in R9?

Datel wants me to open a case with Avaya and I don't know if that's going to help.

There are plenty of application notes for Datel CallSweet with IP Office. But only up to IP Office Release 8.0. You need to confirm with Datel whether they have tested their products with IP Office Release 9.0.

Yes, the Datel product does use TFTP - basically it uses it to get a list of users from the system. However, Avaya have been moving IP Office away from old unencrypted protocols like TFTP and FTP. Without being near a system I can't tell you what the defaults are now but look in the system's security configuration. There is an "Unsecure Interfaces" section that includes options for whether TFTP is on or off. TFTP Read used to be on but that may have changed.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Turns out that TFTP read is turned off by default in R9. It's in the security settings...never had to touch those settings in the past. I enabled it and everything works now.

Thanks for your help!

Sort of guessed that might be the case. Need to get round to defaulting the security on one of my systems to see what the current defaults are. Sadly the Manager help is becoming increasingly useless on that score.

Agreed. Manager help wasn't accurate. It said the default setting = ON but that help document must be outdated.
