i have just set up my 1603, and am in the process of configuring it. However i keep getting the following errors:

%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/cisconet.cfg (timed out)

It also lists other files it can't find. Does anyone know why it is doing this, and how i can stop it?

Thanx.

you may want to enter the command "no service config" in config mode to prevent this behavior. Typically, if a cisco router boots and cannot find a proper config or IOS (I'm not certain which), it will attempt to try to access the needed files via the network.

Hi ,

Also check that the memory when starting up is fine . If the NVRAM , where the Configuration saved is not accessible this error may occur .

Your TFTP address of tftp://255.255.255.255/cisconet.cfg has a few problems...first it's an illegal address. Do the following:

1) Setup Cisco's TFTP program
2) Put the IOS image in the TFTP folder
3) Configure the PC's IP address to be in the same subnet as the 1600's Ethernet port
4) At the command line of the 1600 type "copy tftp flash"
(you will be asked for the IP address of the TFTP server and the name of the image your trying to load)

Router#copy tftp flash:c1700-y-mz.120-3.T3.bin

Address or name of remote host []? 192.168.1.2 <- Valid ip

Source filename []? c1700-y-mz.120-3.T3.bin

Destination filename [c1700-y-mz.120-3.T3.bin]?

As mention the router and the pc have to be on the same
network

router 192.168.1.1/24
pc 192.168.1.2/24 Jeter@LasVegas.com
