i have some problem with the SCCS server. it is newly installed. Release 5.0. The TFA service went unknown after a few seconds i restart it. Does anyone know what is this service for and if you encounter the same problem before?
This problem occured when Meredian Link not configured and Symposium Call Routing Scripts not writed.
I had similar problem and its solved aftex fixing described tasks.
I had this issue with my SCCS when I upgraded to 5.0 and we had a CLAN ip change. The difference was that when I followed this solution, I did not have a reference to any CLAN in the host file, I had to add it into the host file and reboot. Then my TFA service came up. We also hard coded our NIC card settings because they were set to auto-negotiate.
I am not sure which one fixed the issue, but I guess it was the CLAN in the Host file.

THE PROCEDURE TO CHANGE THE CLAN IP ADDRESS WILL FAIL IF
THERE IS AN ENTRY FOR THE OLD IP ADDRESS IN WINDOWS HOSTS
FILE
BACKGROUND
The windows hosts file contains an entry for the CLAN IP address in the absence of DNS
configuration.
ANALYSIS
The MAS Configuration Manager synchronizes the hosts file entries with a database table each
time it starts. It will recreate any entries in the hosts file that have been deleted or amended since
it last started. If Server Setup Configuration interacts with the wrong CLAN IP address during an
update it will halt and the Symposium Server could be left with in an unusable condition.
The behaviour of the MAS Configuration Manager is being investigated by Design in CR
Q01135269-01.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Do not perform a CLAN IP address change on the Symposium server until first checking to see if
there is an entry for the existing CLAN IP address in the windows hosts file:
Windows 2000 server - c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Windows 2003 server - c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
REQUIRED ACTIONS
If a hosts file entry for the existing CLAN IP address exists then contact a NETS representative,
refer to Solution NORT224101, and request that the database is checked for entries relating to
the old CLAN IP address and that they are removed. This can be done in advance of the planned
outage to change the CLAN IP address.
As the hosts file entry may be required until the outage, it should remain until the CLAN IP
address is changed on the NIC card, after which it should be edited to reflect the new IP address.
Server Setup Configuration can then be run to complete the process.
Please note that, if the MAS Configuration Manager restarts before the CLAN IP address change
takes place, then the database entry for the existing CLAN IP address will have been recreated
and will have to be removed by NETS again

Just to answer your other question:
TFA service handles the HDX interface (dx_server.exe)
So if you don't use HDX command in your scripts, you don't need it.
