OK, here's the trouble. On any 3D game, like Q3 or Unreal engine games, even 3D screensavers, I get rows of green and purple dots that shift about as I move, and get worse the longer I run the game. This is totally ruining any game I play and I'm getting kind of desperate. This problem occurs in D3D and OpenGL. Note this never used to happen, when I first built the system it was fine. I have tried :

Updating/Downgrading Detonators
Updating/Downgrading DirectX
Removing and replacing the card
Re-installing from clean drive
Different resolutions, colour depths.

None of these have worked. Here is a screenshot of the problem occuring in Morrowind :

System Specs are :

Win98SE
1.2ghz Athlon Tbird
Asus A7A266 motherboard
Geforce 2 MX400 graphics card
Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 sound card
DVD drive, CD-RW etc
20gig Quantum Fireball HD

Cheers in advance for any help!

This is possibly a heat problem? Try running with your case open, if you already tried that, then get a fan to blow into the case (More specifically, on the geforce) and see if games run fine. If it works, then it is very likely a heat problem. Since you have an MX400 card, you might only have a heatsink on it (no fan). You could try to mount a fan onto the heat sink and get some airflow.

Hope this helps some.
