TEXTMERGE ? SCREEN INPUT ?

I am looking at an older fpd app that inclueds memo fields used for screen input. They look like this;

<<mrms+&quot; &quot;+pname>> indicated that <<hisher>> symptoms have come on
gradually over the last <<multichoice(&quot;The patient's symptoms have been coming
on over the last?&quot;, &quot;few|several&quot>> <<multichoice(&quot;How long have the symptoms
been developing?&quot;, &quot;days|weeks|months&quot>>.

I understand the textmerge part but I can't remember how the
multichoice stuff is used on screen input, is this done via
a popup list, menu or ??
