Weird request from our HR department. Has anyone seen a method where you can text message a DID on an IP office with VM Pro and send a email. Scenario is they want people to be able to text a DID that they are going to be out sick for the day and have it delivered to a email box. Thanks in advanced for any advice...Brad

Ummm, no.

That was my initial thought too.

You could look at Avaya Messaging Service as an option. You can text a DID, but it doesn't go to email. It goes to an app on their phone that they can also text out with as if it were their DID.

Thanks for that suggestion. I will look into that as an option. I just hate to say no right away with out doing a little background work.

I have a SIP provider that takes my text messages sent to my number and forwards them to my cell.

So you could ask your line provider if they can provide that service for you.

& why exactly cant the person calling I sick CALL IN?
(I suspect they want to text so they don't have to fake sounding ill when they are just sneaking a day off)

I am constantly amazed at how many complex systems people will come up with to avoid using the telephone (why on earth do people spend 20 min sending txt's back & forth o arrange a night out when a 2 min phone call will be more effective & cost less!).

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
