Text field highlights from right to cursor - Bug?

I've got an Access 2003 database (on WinXP) that will occasionally start highlighting text fields where I have my cursor - from the right side of the field to wherever the cursor is gets highlighted, no matter where I click. I am not holding down the shift key. (Normally the cursor would just move to where I clicked in the field, and not highlight anything.)

If I click in a new field, the same thing will happen (in the current field only - it doesn't highlight all fields at the same time).

This happens to all text fields in on all forms in the database once it starts. There is no special coding that may cause this.

Usually it stops if I compact/repair and close/reopen the database, but sometimes I have to do it twice.

I was thinking it may be caused by bloat, but will happen even if I'm not doing any design work.

Any ideas for the cause or solution? I can continue compact/repairing, but it's still annoying for users.

Thanks.

I've found that to happen to me too, but it isn't just Access that it happens on. I've had it happen with many different programs. I think it has to do with a particular set of keys that get pressed just at the wrong time.

I've found that closing out and rebooting will take care of it.

Yup - part of the disability/accessability in wondows - not Access itself.

I think you can find it in control panel and turn it back off. It's activated by using some odd key sequences, and does not stay on between reboots.

When it happens to me it will happen only on one database, even if I have others open at the same time on the same computer, but I'll take a look at the keystroke/disability features.

Thanks much,
Amanda

Hmm...I can't find any setting in my disability/accessibility options that seems to control anything like that, and it still doesn't affect any other programs...Cursed Windows bugs...Grr.

Thanks for your suggestions anyway!
