When a text or memo box receives focus, how do you PREVENT all the text in the text or memo box from being selected such that when you type a single character the whole text in the text or memo box gets replaced with the single character just typed.

What I would like to be in Insert mode so that any typing is added to the text or memo box text.

Any ideas please !!

Check out the topic "SelLength, SelStart, SelText Properties" in Access Help. I think that is just what you are looking for. Sorry I don't have time to go into detail.
Kathryn

I had a similar problem. I had a form that one user might input and another might read and by accidentlly tabing into the field it was easily mistakenly changed. What i did was have the form open in "Snapshot" rather than "dynaset". You can search but not make any changes on this form. I put a "edit" command button on this form that opens the particular record on an identical looking form to the user that is a "dynaset". then any changes are permanent. Kind of awkward but the users are happy.
