With the rise and rise of text messaging it would seem that 'text' has become a verb as in 'I will text you when I arrive'
Purists may disagree but I feel that they are fighting a losing battle - just ask my teenage son or his peer group.
This begs the question - what is the past participle? 'Texted' seems ugly and unweildy to me. Any suggestions?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
A shiv (from the Roma word chiv) is a slang term for a sharp or pointed implement used as an improvised knife-like weapon. The shiv is the favored weapon of inmates in prisons across the globe.

Watching too many prison movies lately, entaroadun?

entaroadun

Not all of us have done jail time (or have seen "So I married and Axe Murderer") to know what a shank or shiv is.

There is room for all of gods creatures, "Right Beside the Mashed Potatoes".

I know what a shiv is, I just hadn't heard of it as general slang as a verb for knifing someone. Maybe I should refer myself back to the "verb any noun" thread!

You can never watch too many prison movies!

Just wondering if the UK or Australia had other terms for it, given the many colorful expressions (from the American POV) that these two nations have.

I can safely say that I as a Brit that I have never heard that 'colourful' expersion before!

It's just common sense, shame sense isn't common!

You might suggest to someone...

Let's have text.

Or if you are a prolific writer with an agressive style, you might be accused to texual harrasment.

If you are not very particular about your writing form, you might be perceived as one who engages in causal text.

Some people don't like text at all. I'd suggest The Joy of Text or Text for the Single Girl.

Of course, you may desire some protection for your text, in which case it may be desireable to encode your text.

We all know that having unprotected text is very dangerous!
