text and backgrounds

I am trying to make text show through an existing image in the background. How do I do this?

I am not quite sure what you mean? Are you tring to get the text to knockout of the picture or be kind of ghosted over the picture?

No problem Amelia, Put your image onto the screen in its own box. Now put a text box on top of it and add the text. Lastly, change the white background of the text box to 'none' via the colours palette (in the view menu).
