I have a customer trying to test the Alternate Route set in ARS, by unplugging the PRI, to see if the route works. The phone says "waiting for line" and doesnt route the call across the network to another IPO with its own PRI.
I manually put the route out of service, and the route does work fine.
Does the IPO know to put the ARS route out of service when the customer unplugs the PRI, or does the customer have to do the short code to put the ARS route out of service? I'm not sure on this. Thanks.

it sounds like the ARS is not set up properly. It should go to the back up as soon as you unplug. youhave to set the timer and then put your back up route at the bottom.

There is a timer before it fails over, shorten it. Its in the ARS form.

Also be sure you have set the backup line to fallback because you need synchronisation for a call !!!

I had the Out of Service route, but did not have the Additional Route at the bottom filled out. I put the backup route there, and will have the customer try again. Thanks for your help, I'll let you know the results.

I had to enter the Additional Route at the botom of the page to get the fail over to work. Thanks again.

I use a zero to get a line, then failover is 9 uses voip to remote site. Not automatic but works.

Well, I set up 8 to dial over the voip, which they can use anytime, but the customer wanted an automatic fail over.
