I have a client who moved and somehow has "lost" the phone that had his MFM inside that he used for calls in queue status in a calling group. I have his light, and have purchased an MFM and installed in in an MLX phone in my office. I would like to test the setup before going to his site to make sure both the MFM and the light are working and have no idea how to test. I called the adjunct number associated with the MLX (my naive logic assumed that would work) but the light doesn't light. Does anyone know an easy way to make the light ring?

Did you punch down the Brown pair to that phone too?

I will check, but I believe so. It is plugged directly into a port and I think I have a 4pr 568B cable on it. So you think that with a 4-pr cable plugged directly into an MLX port, and the light plugged into the MFM, that if I dial the associated adjunct the light should flash?

There are jumpers on the MFM that have to be set and the voltage of th light has to be correct

The light is the same one he was using before; and since I originally thought it was the light, I purchased another one just like it - so I am pretty sure the won't be the problem. Is there any documentation anywhere on what the jumpers should be? And how would you (easily) test the mfm itself? Since all this stuff is rebuilt, one never knows... could I just plug in a single line set and see if it has dial tone? Thanks -

You need the SAA setting. A, C, X, Z. Good luck. lg

Is this the system programming? If so, I assume you are talking about the 4 columns that show on an extension print. Or are these dipswitch settings? And is this for s/l set operation or a light? Thanks.

On the MFM module there are two sets of shorting bars. One set has 3 and the other has 4. These are the settings for them. The MFM simulates an SAA (Supplemental Alert Adapter) like the older Merlin had. To test it....set it up like it is to be used at the customer location. lg
