We want to set up a test company in Great Plains, that is essentially a copy of our live company.... HOWEVER, when we do that, we think our employess will be counted twice in our licensing... that is, if we have 500 active employess, GP will now think we have 1000.

Does anyone know a way around this?

We never ran into a problem with licensing. Our vendor gave us keys for the test company, no problem. We are 0-500 and have 400 employees in our main company.

Thanks for your reply.... is your "test" company TWO or is it a copy of your live company?

Hi,

You Can Temporarly diable the employee count by running a DELETE statement on the UPR41600 file against the Dynamics database in SQL Query Analyzer.
Once this has been performed, launch Dynamics.
Go to Help >> About Great Plains.
Check the current number of Employees again. The number should have decreased.
If it has not, you are truly over the Employee count you are registered for and you will need to:
Inactivate Employees

OR

Install the Payroll Historical/Test Company Utility (if you have a Historical or Test Company).

Hope This Helps.

Scorpion4u9,

Thank you for your advice...Beg pardon for the rookie question, but where is the Test Company Utility?

Never mind... we got it. It's in TechKnowledge.

Thanks!
