The main problem is that 80% of the time, when you open an excel spreadsheet stored on the file server, it takes about 30 seconds to close the whole application or the spreadsheet, even if you just opened it and not make any changes to it.

I would suspect it is a network issue since we reinstalled the office and all NIC settings on this 2 PC are at default values, like all the othr PCs in the network.

We have an office network(Windows Server 2003), and this only happens to two machines, both connected to a hub, which is connected to another hub on the network. It used to be connected to a hub that would indicate that the coneection is not full-duplex, but all setttings on both PCs NIC are on Auto detect. All other pc that is connected to this hub says 100mbps and full-duplex, except these hub that connects this two trouble PCs... Now, we replaced this hub with the same kind as the other one, which didn;t have a LED to indicate whether its full duplex or not, still didn't work...

Any input to this matter is appreciated. Thanks.

A hub connected to a hub... that's a great way to create trafic collisions. Those 2 pcs are surely not 100Mbits fullduplex, as the NICs do most of the time nothing but filtering out wrong packets. Try setting them on 10Mbits half duplex for testing purposes.

By the way, what has this to do with the Office forum? It sounds to me like a network problem...

I was explaining what steps I have taken to try to solve this issue, I'm not sure that it is a network problem... Thanks for your suggestion though...
