I have a Windows 2000 Terminal Server SP4.

Apprx twenty users log into this Server daily and I only have to setup their profile once, their Email & application settings are retained.

For this one user, every time he logs on, none of his settings are retained and I must recreate the settings each time.

Any ideas why this would happen?

Have you verified his Terminal Server Profile information is correct? Have you watched him logon to see he doesn't receive any profile loading errors?

Absolutely, there are no logon errors.

I recreate his settings in the TS Session - setup Exchange profile, shorcuts to the ERP system etc

Theres nothing of note in either the local Event log or the TS Event log

Does this happen if the user logs on from a different machine also?
Are you using roaming profiles?

It happens regardless of what machine he logs on from.

He had a roaming profile - it wasnt being carried over, then I removed the Roaming profile and the same thing happened

Are your profiles set to delete on logoff? Do the other users use roaming profiles?

If your profiles are set to delete on logoff that would make sense why it doesn't work without a roaming profile. Maybe a permissions issue on the profiles directory?

Matt Wray

Yeah, I think MattWray is on the right track. When the user logs on, can you verify on the TS that there is a directory C:\Documents and Settings\{user_name}
And, is it still there after the user logs off?

Profiles arent set to delete - it doesnt affect any other user in the domain, nor any other user in the same OU.

It looked like his settings were being temporarily stored in C:\Documents and Settings\TEMP. I then manually created a folder under C:\Documents and Settings\username

When he logged on this morning, the TS created a folder called C:\Documents and Settings\Username.domainname and the folder I created is still there, though C:\Documents and Settings\TEMP is not.

No other user has the .domainname suffix at the end of C:\Documents and Settings\username

I'll try again in the morning when he logs on, but hopefully his settings will be retained this time

Thanks for all the replies
