Howdy folks, here's what I'm trying to do:

In the past, I have handled all of my TS connections as XP to XP. When using XP to XP, driver issues for the remote printing were minor. I just made sure I had the same version of the driver on both the machine acting as server, and the client, and presto: remote printing.

When it's intra-office personnel working from home, 1 to 1 XP to XP connections are great. But when people who don't actually have machines in the office are connecting in, it's not so great. So, I take the necessary step, install a 2000 server, setup up TS and get my licenses, and here I am. Was very excited to get through that whole process until I came to this point, and now I'm a bit confused.

How can I add the XP printer driver to my Win2k terminal server, so that when the XP client connects, it's local printer becomes the active printer?

I tried, in printer properties on the server, to add new drivers via the share menu. But whoa is me, the 2000 machine doesn't appear to include XP as an option. I'm not really sure that that particualar menu is where I would want to be anyway...but I'm grasping at straws.

Could I possibly just copy the necessary driver files over into the directory where they are stored? I hope I haven't been to confusing...any help on this issue is greatly appreciated. Thanks all :)

The 2000 drivers should work with XP.

It's been my experience that the driver versions have to be exactly the same in order for this function to work. In other words, if I have a June '04 driver and a December '03 driver for the same model printer, it won't work. Even though the drivers are probably near identical, they aren't exactly identical.

So, from all that I know of this now, I need to have an exact match of the client driver on the TS machine. No one does this on their Win2k TS? This is one of the better features of TS..:/

Never worried about having the same dated drivers, just the proper OS driver. I have 70 remote users that come into our TS, I'd hate to have to have all the same dated drivers. :)

I've had no problems so far. As long as the driver for that printer is on the TS, then it's worked.
