Terminal Server issue with disconnected sessions

Current setup. Terminal Server 2003 and RDP 6.

When a user disconnects from our terminal server and reconnects back it brings them right back to where they left off as it should. But after about 5-7 seconds rdp just closes. It does not send the session into a disconnected state. When the user logs back all the logon scritps run and they are at a new session with all data lost from their previous one. This does not happen with a machine that has rdp 5.2 on it, but we currently need RDP 6 to use to /span feature for dual monitors.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? It happens every time and for all users. Its not sporatic.

Thanks for responding TopKatz.

I figured out the problem. Heres the answer in case anyone ever happens upon this problem.

We use a program called Screwdrivers for printing in Terminal Server. The problem we were having was only happening for 1 of our servers and not any of the others. This was due to installing Screwdrivers in "Install" mode. There is nothing about this on their knowledgebase anywhere and their instructions for installing do not mention whether to use Install mode or not. Reinstalled not in Install mode and all is fine now. Wierd.

Im glad you solved your problem.

Printing was a big hurdle for us with TS. In the end we used print servers at our remote locations, and installed them as local ports on the TS.

The printer port mapping native to TS is really bad.

I agree. Printing was a nightmare, but Screwdrivers works very well for us. Expensive product though.
